Early Life and Education
Born on May 20, 1953, in Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur, Bernardino Rabang Rodillas grew up in a family committed to hard work and community involvement. His father, Petronilo R. Rodillas, and mother, Mercedes R. Rodillas, instilled in him the values of diligence and compassion, principles that shaped his future endeavors.
FRMG BERNZ’s educational journey began at Cabittaogan Elementary School, where he laid the foundation for his academic pursuits from 1960 to 1966. He continued to excel at Ilocos Sur National High School, graduating in 1970. His thirst for knowledge led him to Saint Louis University in Baguio City, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Accounting, in 1975.
Professional Career
FRMG BERNZ’s professional career began in the private sector, where he joined Radiowealth Finance Company in 1977. Over nearly a decade, he climbed the corporate ladder, taking on roles such as Collector, Credit Investigator, Administrative Officer, Assistant Branch Manager, and ultimately, Senior Manager and Branch Manager by 1986. His proficiency in managing operations and nurturing client relationships was acknowledged and respected within the organization.
In 1988, FRMG BERNZ transitioned to the public sector, a move that would mark the beginning of a significant chapter in his career dedicated to community service. Over the next thirty years, he served in various capacities, including Laborer, Clerk II, Management and Audit Analyst I, and Community Affairs Officer II. His unwavering commitment to public service culminated in his role as the City Community Affairs Officer (Department Head I), a position he held until his retirement in 2018.
Community Engagement and Voluntary Work
Throughout his life, FRMG BERNZ demonstrated a deep commitment to community service and engagement. He actively participated in several non-governmental organizations and people’s organizations, exemplifying his belief in the power of collective action. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Paul de Vigan Council #8462 and served as Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Vigan during the Rotary Years 1986 and 1987. His involvement in the Philippine GUARDIANS Brotherhood, Inc. was marked by significant leadership roles, including serving as President/Chairman of the Regional Executive Council for Region 1 and a member of the National Executive Council. He also took on the responsibility of Founder/Organizer of the BAGGAK Chapter, reflecting his commitment to strengthening community ties.
Military Service
A proud member of the Philippine Army Reserve Force, Bernardino holds the rank of First Lieutenant (O-149989). Currently, he serves as the Battalion Executive Officer of the 1st Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion under the 1st Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command, Philippine Army, at Camp Valentin S. Juan in Laoag City. His military service further highlights his dedication to protecting and serving his country.
Personal Life
FRMG BERNZ’s commitment to family is evident in his life as a husband and father. He is married to Ophelia Madamba Rodillas, and together, they have raised four children—two sons and two daughters—instilling in them the same values of service and dedication that have guided Bernardino throughout his life. Their residence at 17 F. R. Castro St., Brgy. 4, San Guillermo, Laoag City, serves as a heartwarming home filled with love, support, and shared aspirations.

FRMG BERNZ’s spouse is a retired Government Supervising Nurse, and together, they have made a significant impact in their community. Bernardino Rabang Rodillas has established a lasting legacy through a career that exemplifies unwavering dedication to effective leadership, principled service, and meaningful community involvement. Now at the age of 71, he remains a source of inspiration for others, actively engaging in local organizations and demonstrating a strong commitment to public service. His life serves as a testament to the power of dedication, compassion, and hard work in creating a lasting positive change.
