Procedures for Becoming a Certified Lecturer and Certified Marker (Tattoo Artist)
1. Understand the Qualifications and Requirements
For Certified Lecturers:
- Education: A minimum of a standard degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, such as art, education, or a related discipline.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in tattooing, coupled with a proven track record of teaching or mentoring within the industry.
- Portfolio: Submission of a comprehensive portfolio showcasing previous work, teaching methods, and any instructional materials developed.
- Continuing Education: Completion of professional development courses related to adult education, instructional strategies, and industry updates.
For Certified Markers (Tattoo Artists):
- Experience: At least 1-3 years of practical tattooing experience under the supervision of a certified tattoo artist in a recognized studio.
- Health & Safety Training: Proof of completion of courses in health, safety, and sterilization practices specific to tattooing.
- Portfolio: A substantial portfolio demonstrating a range of tattoo styles, techniques, and creative artistry.
- Industry Knowledge: Awareness of local and national regulations governing tattooing practices.
2. Application Process
- Step 1: Obtain Necessary Documentation
Prepare your resume, portfolio, proof of education, and any relevant certifications in health and safety. - Step 2: Submit an Application
Please complete the application forms provided by the Professional & Educational Committee and ensure that all required documents are attached. - Step 3: Application Review
The committee will review your application to verify your qualifications and experience. You will be notified to proceed to the next steps if you meet the standards.
3. Prepare for Examinations
- Step 4: Study for Written Examination
Familiarize yourself with the examination guidelines and study the relevant material regarding tattoo techniques, safety protocols, and teaching methodologies for lecturers. - Step 5: Attend Training Sessions
Participate in any offered preparatory workshops or training sessions organized by the committee to better understand the examination expectations.
4. Examinations
- Step 6: Written Examination
Sit for the written examination, which will test your theoretical knowledge and understanding of best practices in tattooing and educational methods. - Step 7: Oral Examination
Upon passing the written portion, you will be invited to the oral examination, where you will present your knowledge and teaching skills in a practical context.
5. Certification and Continuing Development
- Step 8: Receive Certification
Upon successfully passing both examinations, you will be awarded your certification as a lecturer or certified marker. This certification must be renewed periodically, so stay informed about any requirements for re-credentialing. - Step 9: Engage in Continued Education
Participate in ongoing workshops, seminars, and education courses to keep your skills current and ensure compliance with changing industry standards and practices.
