Hon. MSgt Francis “FGGF FRANZ” Gubatayao
Francis C. Gubatayao, known to many as FGGF FRANZ, was born on October 4, 1972, in the vibrant region of Negros Occidental, Philippines. The only son of Mr. and Mrs. Thelma Gubatayao, Francis faced significant challenges early in life that shaped his character and determination. He attended Sacred Heart Academy in Bais City, where he completed his high school education in 1989-90.
Francis’s college journey began at the University of Iloilo, where he pursued a degree in Bachelor of Science in Criminology. However, his academic path was fraught with personal struggles. His mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer and hospitalized at the Philippine General Hospital, which placed immense emotional and financial pressure on the family. Despite these challenges, Francis remained steadfast in his pursuit of education. Motivated by the desire to succeed, he applied for a scholarship and was fortunate enough to be accepted, ultimately graduating with his degree in 1994, also earning recognition in the Advanced ROTC MS-42 program.
His commitment to furthering his military training led him to advance to MS-43 at Camp Lahug in Cebu City, where he graduated with the rank of P2LT (Probationary Second Lieutenant). Following this accomplishment, he served as a tactical officer at the University of Iloilo for nearly three years before joining the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) service on September 18, 1997.
In November 1998, “G FRANZ” joined the Philippine GUARDIANS Brotherhood, Inc. (PGBI), achieving the rank of (G) Gold. He took his oath under the late FRMG SCOUT, the founder of the Aguisan Chapter, in 2008. Driven by a dedication to leadership and service, he shared his knowledge and expertise with the fraternity, which led to his recommendation for promotion to Regional Director of the Founders Council. Following the passing of his mentor, he was appointed to the National Executive Council (NEC).
As a current member of the NEC, MSgt Francis “FGGF FRANZ” Gubatayao represents Region 18, also known as Region 6B, which encompasses the provinces of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor. Recognized for his unwavering dedication, strong principles, and transformative leadership style, he has earned the title of “Pounder Leader” within PGBI.
Hailing from humble beginnings, FGGF FRANZ’s lifelong commitment to service is deeply rooted in his upbringing and community connections. His journey through military and public service reflects a relentless pursuit of positive change, characterized by a hands-on approach to problem-solving and community collaboration. His philosophy of leadership emphasizes transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, inspiring those around him to take an active role in governance and community development.
Passionate about sustainable development, disaster resilience, and community empowerment, FGGF FRANZ ardently advocates for programs that enhance educational opportunities and public services. Outside of his professional commitments, FGGF FRANZ is a devoted family man and mentor. He prioritizes his role in nurturing the next generation, fostering a spirit of active participation among youth in their communities.
