Romeo FRMG GWAPO M. De Asis, born on July 24, 1959, has dedicated his life to education and community service, a journey spanning 43 years in government service. He resides in Villa Angela Subdivision, Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City. His educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education, specializing in Electrical Technology, from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial Polytechnic State College, where he graduated “cum laude”. Furthering his academic pursuits, he earned a Master’s degree in Technician Education and fulfilled the academic requirements for a Doctor of Technician Education.
His professional career showcases a diverse range of experiences. He has held significant leadership positions, including former Dean of the College of Information and Technology, former Director of the Office of Student Affairs, and former Director of the Institute of Continuing Education and Training. His technical expertise is extensive, encompassing roles as a Philippine International Coach in Commercial Wiring, a National Accreditor for AACCUP, and a former Manager of NORMIEC at USTP. He also serves as a TESDA Assessor and a consultant in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control.
Complementing his technical skills are exceptional communication and leadership abilities. FRMG GWAPO is a sought-after lecturer, speaker, and motivational speaker, addressing topics such as leadership, human relations, and marriage counseling. He excels in facilitating, teaching methods, and conducting training in various areas of electrical technology. He is also a skilled researcher and training instructor.
Beyond his professional life, FRMG GWAPO is committed to volunteer work. He has served as a Volunteer Probation Assistant (VPA) at the Parole and Probation Office and as a Pastor at the Blessed Hope Christians Community Church International at Indahag. His dedication to service has earned him the National Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2010 and recognition as a finalist for the Outstanding Teacher of the Philippines in 1999. Additional accolades include the Best Research Paper Award in the Technical Category, his role as the National Coach for USTP Basketball Women, and his participation as a Philippine Delegate at the Philippine-Japan Probation Volunteer Conference in Japan. He is also a Red Cross volunteer.
FRMG GWAPO’s involvement with the PGBI has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s trajectory. He began his engagement with the Saviour chapter in El Salvador City as an advisor, showcasing his expertise and willingness to mentor others. As Interim Regional Director of the Founders’ Council of Region X, he leveraged his experience to drive growth, and collaborated with Nilo “FRMG BOODIE” Abuga-a, the long-standing Regional President and Chairman of Region X, covering the Northern Mindanao Region, as well as Judge Arthur FRMG COMET Abudiente, the Regional Representative of Region X and one of the three living Incorporators, in spearheading the first regional reorganization.
This collaborative effort yielded tangible results, culminating in the selection of Engr. Melliardine “GS MEL” G. Gamet as the National President/Chairman of the organization. His role in this pivotal moment underscores FRMG Gwapo’s dedication to fostering effective leadership within the PGBI, while also demonstrating his lasting impact on the organization and its various communities.
